The amount of earth that must be dug is 22 m³.

• Given data :

Depth / height of the well = 7 metres

Diameter of the well = 2 metres

• So, the radius of the well

= Diameter of the well / 2

= 2/2

= 1 metre

• Now,we have to calculate the volume of the well by using the following mathematical formula :

= π × (radius of the well)² × height of the well

= π × (1)²× 7

= 22/7 × 7

= 22 m³

So,we need to dig 22m³ of earth to construct the well. (Answer)
