How many cubic metres of the earth must be dug out to sink a well which is 20 m deep and has a diameter of 7 metres. if the earth so dug out is spread over a rectangular plot 28m by 11m what is the height of the platform?

            = 22/7×3.5²×20

            = 770m³

l= 28 b = 11 h = h

volume of cuboidal platform = l×b×h

                           = 28×11×h

                           = 308h m³

volume of cuboid platform = volume of the earth dug out

308h = 770

h = 770÷308 =2.5 m
