Third shell can accommodate 18 electrons i.e. M shell

preetty01: thanks
samadrita16: then why do we show only 8 electrons when we draw the third orbital of the element argon ?
prefectone: see argon's atomic no. is 18
prefectone: so it's electronic configuration would be 2, 8, 8
prefectone: so we draw only 8 electrons in the third orbit and so it is chemically stable

hii mate here is the answer to your question
the maximum no. of electrons a shell can have is 2n^2.
Therefore, the third orbit can hold maximum 2×3^2=2×9=18.
hope this helps
keep smiling

prefectone: mark brainliest
preetty01: how?
prefectone: what how?
prefectone: no, I am just saying it totally depends on her
preetty01: ohk
