To FinD :-

  • The number of electrons present in 120g of CO₃ ²- .

SolutioN :-

We need to find the number of electrons Present in 120g of CO²- , for that firstly it is find out the number of moles . We note that the molecular mass of carbonate is ,

\sf\longrightarrow CO_3 = (12g + 16*3)g= \red{60g}

Now we can find the number of moles as ,

\sf\longrightarrow n_{moles}=\dfrac{ Given \ wt .}{Molecular\ wt .} \\\\\\\sf\longrightarrow n_{moles}= \dfrac{120g}{60g}\\\\\\ \sf\longrightarrow\red{ n_{moles}= 2 }

  • Now in one mole of Carbonate , there is 6 + 8*3 + 2 = 6 + 24 + 2 = 32 . Therefore the number of electrons present in two moles of per unit will be ,

\sf\longrightarrow n_{(electron)}= 2 * 32 =\red{64}

Hence there are 64 electrons in 120g .
