Explanation:

A single electron has a charge of 1.60217733 × 10-19 Coulombs. A collection of 6.2415 × 1018 electrons has a charge of one Coulomb (1/1.60217733x10-19). 1.6 into 10 raise to power -19 no of electrons are present in one coulomb of charge.

To Find:

Number of electrons in 1C

Solution:

We know that,

  • According to quantisation of charge, charge on any body is strictly in integral multiples of 'e'(charge on 1 electron) or the minimum possible charge on a body is charge on 1 electron

i.e.  \pink{\boxed{\bf{Q=Ne}}}

where,

N is any integer

e is the charge on electron= 1.6×10⁻¹⁹C

\rule{190}{1}

Now, let the total number of electrons present in 1 C charge be N

So, on using above formula, we get

\longrightarrow\rm{Q=Ne}

\longrightarrow\rm{1=N\times1.6\times10^{-19}}

\longrightarrow\rm{N\times1.6\times10^{-19}=1}

\longrightarrow\rm{N=\dfrac{1}{1.6\times10^{-19}}}

\longrightarrow\rm{N=0.625\times10^{19}}

\longrightarrow\rm{N=6.25\times10^{18}}

Hence, 6.25×10¹⁸ electrons are present in 1 C of charge.
