Since atomic number of hydrogen is 1, so it has 1 proton and 1 electron.
similarly, atomic number of carbon is 6, it has 6 protons and 6 electrons.
so total number of electrons in 1 molecule of CH4 is
![6 \times 1 + 4 \times 1 = 10 6 \times 1 + 4 \times 1 = 10](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=6+%5Ctimes+1+%2B+4+%5Ctimes+1+%3D+10)
Note because 1 Mole of any compound contains
![6.022 \times {10}^{23} \: molecules 6.022 \times {10}^{23} \: molecules](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=6.022+%5Ctimes+%7B10%7D%5E%7B23%7D+%5C%3A+molecules)
So 1 Mole CH4 contains
![10 \times 6.022 \times {10}^{23} \: electrons 10 \times 6.022 \times {10}^{23} \: electrons](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=10+%5Ctimes+6.022+%5Ctimes+%7B10%7D%5E%7B23%7D+%5C%3A+electrons)
