There are 32 elements in sixth period of the modern periodic table.
You can use a formula or trick to calculate the no. of elements in any period.
(n + 1) {}^{2} \div2
when n is odd

and
(n + 2) {}^{2} \div2
when n is even
where n is the period no. in which you wants to calculate the no of elements.

Hope this helps...
