Given data :

  • Size of a sheet of paper 125 cm × 85 cm.

  • One envelope requires a piece of paper of size and 17cm × 5cm.

To find : The number of envelopes can be made out of a sheet of paper 125 cm × 85 cm.

Solution : Let, shape of sheet of paper abd envelopes be rectangular.

Now,

→ Length of sheet paper = 125 cm

→ Breadth of sheet paper = 85 cm

→ Length of envelope = 17 cm

→ Breadth of envelope = 5 cm

Now, we use formula of area of rectangle,

→ Area of sheet paper

= Length * Breadth

→ Area of sheet paper

= 125 * 85

→ Area of sheet paper

= 10625 m²

Similarly,

→ Area of one envelope

= Length * Breadth

→ Area of one envelope

= 17 * 5

→ Area of one envelope

= 85 m²

Now, to find the number of envelopes can be made out of a sheet of paper 125 cm × 85 cm.

→ Number of envelopes

= {Area of sheet paper}/{Area of one envelope}

→ Number of envelopes

= 10625/85

→ Number of envelopes

= 125

ANSWER : Hence, 125 envelopes can be made out of a sheet of paper 125 cm × 85 cm.
