Answer:

Step-by-step explanation :- Total length of the sheet = 3m 24 cm(342 cm)

Total breadth of the sheet=1m 72cm(172cm)

Total area :- 342 cm × 172 cm = 55728

Area that per envelope requires = (l×b)=18 cm ×12cm=216 cm

So, total number of envelope which can be made out of  324 cm by 172 cm sheet of paper = 55728÷216

                               =258

Given :  a sheet of paper of size 3 m 24 cm × 1 m 72 cm

To Find : Number of envelopes can be made of  size 18 cm × 12 cm

Solution:

a sheet of paper of size 3 m 25 cm × 1 m 72 cm

3 m 24 cm = 324 cm

1 m 72 cm = 172 cm

Area = 324 x 172

Envelop size = 18 * 12  cm

Using direct area formula  =   324 x 172 / 18 * 12   = 258 envelopes

But actually

324 / 18 = 18

172 / 12 = 14.33 =14  ( as has to be integer )

Hence envelopes = 18 * 14 = 252  envelopes
