We know that gram atoms = moles

Let ;

  • n = number of moles
  • W = given mass
  • M = molar mass mass

Given ;

n(H2O) = 0.16 mol

Thus n(O) = number of O atoms in 1 molecule × n(H2O)

n(O) = 1× 0.16

= 0.16

Therefore there are 0.16 gram atoms of O or 0.16 moles of O .
