Given : Few grams of a 15 percent alcohol solution  mixed with 40 grams of a 30 percent solution to obtain a solution that is 25 percent alcohol

To Find : How many grams of a 15 percent alcohol solution mixed

Solution:

Ley sat  x  gram of  15 percent alcohol solution  mixed

=> Alcohol =  (15/100)x   = 0.15x  grams

40 grams of a 30 percent solution

=> Alcohol  = (30/100)40  = 12 grams

Total Alcohol = 0.15x  + 12 grams

Total Mixture  = x + 40 grams

solution that is 25 percent alcohol

=> (25/100) (x + 40)  = 0.15x  + 12

=> x + 40  = 0.6x  + 48

=> 0.4x  = 8

=> 4x = 80

=> x = 20

Hence 20 grams of a 15 percent alcohol solution to be mixed
