How many grams of ammonia can be prepared from 42 g of nitrogen?

Explanation:

N2 + 3 H2 ------------> 2 NH3

From above equation we can say that 1 Mole of Nitrogen gas can prepare 2 moles of Ammonia gas.

i.e

28 g of N2 can produce 17 g of NH3

Molecular mass of N2 = 14× 2 = 28

Molecular mass of NH3 = 17

Therefore,

Using Unitary method

42 g of Nitrogen gas will produce

= 17 × 42 / 28

= 51/ 2

= 25.5 g
