How many grams of Glucose in 10% w/v 400 ml solution?

(A) 40 (B) 2.5 (C) 4 (D) 4000

solution : concentration of solution of glucose is 10 % w/v.

it means 10 g of solute (glucose) in 100 ml of solution.

∵ 100 ml solution contains 10g glucose.

∴ 1 ml solution contains 10/100 g = 1/10 glucose

∴ 400 ml solution contains 400 × 1/10 = 40 g glucose.

Therefore the mass of glucose present in 400 ml of its solution is 40g.
