2 MG + O2 gives 2Mgo

2M 1M 2M

(48gr)

24 gr multiplied 2times=32 gr

48x=480 multiplied 32

x=320

Mg Mgo

48gr 80gr

480gr ?

480 multiplied 80 divided by 48=800

Mg + halfO2 forms MgO.

given no. of moles of magnesium is 480/24 = 20

from the above balanced equation 1 mole of magnesium requires half mole oxygen gas and gives 1 mole MgO.

So, 20 moles of Mg will require 10 moles of oxygen gas which is equal to 10 × 32 = 320 gm.

we know 1mole Mg will give 1mole MgO so, 20 moles Mg will give 20 moles MgO so mass of MgO formed is 20 × (24+16)

=20 × 40 =800gm.

hopebit helped
