How many grams of water can be produced the combination of 8 grams of oxygen and 8 grams of hydrogen?

hello mate..

it's type of limiting reagent type reaction

  • first of all write the balanced reaction
  • 2H2 + O2 ------> 2H2O
  • it mean 4 gram hydrogen react with 32 gram oxygen to form 36 g water
  • but we have 8 gram each so find out limiting reagent which will decide the product. for limiting reagent
  1. for 4 gram hydrogen require oxygen = 32 g
  • so 8 gram hydrogen require oxygen = 72 gram
  • so oxygen is limiting.

so product will be according to oxygen available.

  1. 32 gram oxygen produces water = 36 g
  2. so 8g oxygen will produce water = 9g
