27 grams of ‘pure water’ will be produced by ‘complete combustion of 12 grams’ of methane gas.

Option: (b)

Explanation:

  • Methane reacts with water to oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water. Here 1 molecule of methane form 2 molecule of water.
  • The weight of 1 molecule of methane is 16 gm. So 12 gm ‘methane’ is equal to 0.75 mole of methane. So 1.5 molecule of water is formed. The weight of ‘one molecule of water’ is 18 grams.
  • So the weight of 1.5 molecule of water is 27 gram. Hence the ‘amount of water’ will be 27 grams.
