Answer:

6.81 grams of ZnCl will be formed

Explanation:

Given

mass of Zn = 6.5 g

mass of HCl = 3.2 g

mass of ZnCl = ??

Solution

Zn + 2HCl -------> ZnCl2 + H2

first convert grams to moles

No. of Moles = Given mass/ Molecular mass

for Zn

No. of Moles = 6.5 / 65

No. of Moles = 0.1 mol

for HCl

No. of Moles = 3.2/ 36.5

No. of Moles = 0.08 mol

from reaction the ratio of ZnCl2 and HCl is 1:2

while ZnCl2 to Zn is 1:1 thus Zn is a limiting reactant

the molar mass of ZnCl2 is 136.27 g/mol

No. of Moles = Given mass/ Molecular mass

0.05 = mass / 136.27

mass = 6.81 g
