Given:

30 grams of Ethane (C2H6)

To find:

Hydrogen atoms in ethane = ?

Solution:

Molar mass of C2H6

= 2×12+6×1

= 24+6

= 30gm

 \\ Mole =  \dfrac{mass}{molar \: mass}

Mole of C2H6 formed are

 \\ Mole \: = \dfrac{30g}{30g} \\ \\ = 1 \: mole

In 1 mole of ethane (C2H6) there are 6 hydrogen atoms

So, 30 grams of C2H6 is equal to 1 mole

Thus, there are 6 hydrogen atoms in 30 gm of ethane

Required Answer:

There are 6 hydrogen atoms in 30 gm of ethane

Knowledge Booster:

# To find molecular formula of any alkane

Formula is CnH2n+2

The n is carbon number.

For example: Pentane

Carbon number (n) = 5

So, molecular formula = C(5) H2(5) +2

= C5H12 is molecular formula of pentane

# For alkene

Formula is CnH2n

# For alkyne

Formula is CnH2n-2
