The most common isotope's atomic mass is 40. So, 20 neutrons. A neutral calcium atom has 20 protons and so 20 electrons. A calcium ion has a 2+ charge so it has lost 2 electrons.

hey mate!

There are total number 20 electrons present in calcium as it is Calcium ion there is +2 charge it means it now has 18 electrons with it .therefore 20 electrons in calcium ion.
