Let the required number of kilos of tea be x.
⇒According to the problem,
72x+10*90=78(10+x) ....(making the prices equal)
⇒72x+900=780+78x
⇒900-780=78x-72x
⇒120=6x
⇒x=120/6=20
Ans: 20 kilos of tea must be mixed .

20 kg of tea costing Rs. 72 per kg must be mixed.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

Two types of tea

Type I = Rs. 72 per kg

Type II = Rs. 90 per kg

Let the amount of Type I = x

The amount of Type II tea = 10 kg                      (given)

Total tea = (x + 10)Kg

Cost of total tea = {(72 * x) + (10 * 90)}

= (72x + 900)

Given that,

(72x + 900) = 78(x + 10)

⇒ 72x + 900 = 78x + 780

⇒ 900 - 780 = 78x - 72x

⇒ 120 = 6x

⇒ x = 120/6

∵ x = 20

Thus, 20 kg is the amount of Type I(Rs. 72 per kg) tea that must be mixed with 10 kg of Type II tea(Rs. 90 per kg) to make a mixture of Rs. 78 per kg.
