How many layers are there in the atmosphere. What are they?
Our atmosphere is a thick cover of total gases which is divided into 5 layers. These 5 layers are a group of different gases.
There are some five layers in the atmosphere, these 5 layers are as follows:
- Troposphere
- Stratosphere
- Mesosphere
- Thermosphere
- Exosphere
Troposphere: It is the lowest layer of the atmosphere and its average height from Earth is 8 to 18 km.
Stratosphere: This is the second layer, which is above the troposphere. This is the layer where meteorological phenomena take place. It is located at an altitude of 50 km above the surface of the earth.
Mesosphere: This is the third layer of the atmosphere, which is above the stratosphere and is at an altitude of 50 to 90 kilometers from the Earth.
Thermosphere: It ranges from 80 to 40 kilometers from the surface of the Earth.
Exosphere: This is the topmost layer of the Earth. It has the lowest density. This layer merges with the space above.
