HEYA!!!
HERE IS YOUR ANSWER,
> When you drink 2–3 glasses of water & wait for at least 20 minutes, your urinary bladder becomes full & the pelvic structures are easily seen on abdominal ultrasound.
> Another way to see pelvic structures is to do the ultrasound by the vaginal route in females. It gives better images as compared to abdominal.
> Thus it is advisable to drink water before ultrasound scanning.
HOPE IT HELPS YOU,
THANK YOU.☺️☺️

You need to do that for a pelvic ultrasound ( for uterus, ovaries, prostate etc.)
Ultrasound works by means of sound waves which require a medium to propagate. Water serves as a good medium.
The pelvic organs are in close proximity of the urinary bladder.
Drinking water fills up the bladder, this way it is delineated better & the surrounding structures can be visualized more clearly. With water, bladder appears as a separate black structure & a medium is created for clear visualization of the surrounding structures
