The northern most latitude is 90N and the southern most is 90S. This makes the total number of latitudes 90+90+1 (including 0 degree - equator) = 181

The western most longitude is 180W and the eastern most longitude is 180E; incidentally, 180W and 180E are the same longitude. This is called the 180th meridian and also the international date line.

Therefore, the total number of longitudes is 180+180+1–1 (180 west longitudes, 180 east longitudes, -1 because 180E and 180W are the same longitude, +1 for 0degree longitude - the prime meridian) = 360

Therefore, the total number of latitudes are 181; and the total number of longitudes are 360.

Answer:

  • India is a major nation and its longitudinal range is very enormous. In this way, there is a distinction of around 1 hour 45 moment in dawn times between Dibrugarh (Assam) and Dwarka (Gujarat). In any case, we need a standard time all through the nation for the simplicity of keeping up time plans. The Indian Standard Time (IST) has been fixed on 82.50 E (820 30' min) meridian.

82.5 × 4 = 330 min = 5 hr 30 min

  • The above count shows that the Indian Standard Time is in front of the Greenwich Meantime by 5 hours 30 minutes.

  • A few nations are enormous to such an extent that just one time zone isn't sufficient for them. For instance; there are 11 time zones in Russia. There are 9 time zones in the USA. The entire earth has been isolated into 24 time zones. Each time zone covers 150 longitudes.
