Answer:

Number of minimum divisions required for formation of 100 seeds is 125.

Explanation:

In a typical angiospermic plant the seed is diploid , formed after the fusion of both the female gametes and male gametes.

Therefore 100 seeds = 100 male gametes + 100 female gametes

FOR THE NUMBER OF DIVISONS FOR MALE GAMETES :-

1 meiotic division = 4 haploid male gametes (pollen)

∴ 100 male gametes = 25 meiotic divisions

FOR THE NUMBER OF DIVISIONS FOR FEMALE GAMETES :-

Fir the formation of female gamete meiotic divison takes place forming 4 megaspores out of which 3 spores degenerate leaving 1 which forms the embryo

Hence,

1 meiotic division = 1 female gamete

∴  100 female gametes = 100 meiotic divisions

Hence total number of minimum meiotic divisions required for the formation of 100 seeds is 25+100 = 125 meiotic divisions.
