Given,

Length of the metal box = 8 cm

Breadth of the metal box = 5 cm

Height of the metal box = 3 cm

Length of the cardboard = 40 cm

Breadth of the cardboard = 40 cm

Height of the cardboard = 21 cm

To find,

The numbers of metal boxes that can be packed in the cardboard.

Solution,

The number of metal boxes of size 8 cm into 5 cm and 3 cm that can be packed in cardboard of size 40 cm into 40 cm and 21 cm is 280.

Volume of the metal box = length*breadth*height

                                          = 8*5*3 cm³

Volume of the cardboard = length*breadth*height

                                          = 40*40*21 cm³

The number of metal boxes that can be kept in the cardboard is = Volume of cardboard/ volume of the metal box

    =   40*40*21/8*5*3

    =   280 metal boxes

Hence, The number of metal boxes of size 8 cm into 5 cm and 3 cm that can be packed in cardboard of size 40 cm into 40 cm and 21 cm is 280.
