The minimum number of students required to make group of 4 and 5 each so that no students is left = 20

Given:

Numbers 4 and 5

To find:

The minimum number of students are required from a class to

make groups of 4 each and 5 each so that no student is left

Solution:

To find the minimum number of students we need to make group of 4 and 5, we need to find LCM of 4, 5

LCM :

  • Least Common Multiple is a number which is divided by given numbers evenly
  • Example: LCM(3, 6) is 18

        here, 3 = 1 × 3 and 6 = 2 × 3

        Least common multiple of 3, 6 = 3 × 3 × 2 = 18

Now find LCM(4,5)

As we know 4 = 2 × 2 and 5 = 1 × 5

LCM of 4, 5 = 2 × 2 × 5 = 20

The minimum number of students required to make group of 4 and 5 each so that no students is left = 20
