Step by step explanation:

Given : Mass of carbon dioxide is 2.98 grams.

To find : The no. of moles of carbon dioxide.

Formula used :  No. of moles of any compound A

N =\frac{W}{M}

N is the no. of moles, W is for the given mass and M is for molar mass of compound A.

  • Calculation for no. of moles(N)

We have mass of CO₂ is,

W=2.98 grams

we have to find the molar mass(M) of CO₂ first,

Molar mass of Carbon is 12g/mol  and molar mass of oxygen is 16g/mol.

M=12+2*16

    =12+32

    =44

now we have ,

W=2.98 g  and  M=44g/mol

so N is,

N =\frac{W}{M}

   =\frac{2.98}{44}

   =0.0677 mol.

No. of moles of CO₂ is 0.0677 mol.
