HgCl2 + 2KI -----> 2KCl + HgI2 -----(1)
HgI2 + 2KI --------> K2[HgI4] ---------(2)
(1) + (2)
HgCl2 + 4KI ---------> 2KCl + K2[HgI4]-------(3)
if 0.4 mole of K2[HgI4] produce then by stoichiometry coefficient mole of KI is 4 times of mole of K2[HgI4] from 3rd reaction
so mole of KI is 4 x 0.4 = 1.6 mole
i hope it will help you
