Given :-

  • Compound is magnesium phosphate [Mg₃(PO₄)₂]

To Find :-

  • No. of moles of magnesium phosphate that will contain 0.25 mole of oxygen atoms.

Solution :-

We know, one molecule of magnesium phosphate contains 3 atoms of magnesium, 2 atoms of phosphorus and 8 atoms of oxygen.

Then, 1 mole of magnesium phosphate will contain respectively, 8 moles of oxygen.

∴ 0.25 mole of oxygen atoms will be contained by:-

\implies\rm{\dfrac{0.25\times{}1}{8}}

\implies\rm{0.03125\:moles}

\implies\bold{3.125\times{}10^{-2}\:moles}

Thus, 3.125 × 10⁻² moles of magnesium oxide will contain 0.25 mole of oxygen atoms.
