How many moles of potassium chlorate need to be heated to produce 11.2 litre oxygen at N.T.P . now this is not my question. My question is how do we know that in kclo3 its breaks to 2kclo3 -> 2kcl +302 . How do we find that in chemical reactions .Is there any particular rules for this

Answer:

At NTP, 11.2 L of oxygen corresponds to

22.4

11.2

=0.5mol

2KClO

3

heat

2KCl+3O

2

Thus, 2 moles of potassium chlorate on heating gives 3 moles of oxygen.

Thus,

3

2

×0.5=

3

1

moles of potassium chlorate on heating gives 11.2 L of oxygen at NTP.

1/3 mole
