The sequence of numbers which lie between 10 and 100 and are divisible by 4 are as follows:
12, 16, 20, ... , 100
In the above sequence,
- First term = a = 12
- Common difference = d = 4
- Last term = aₙ = 100
We need to find out the number of terns which is n.
Apply the general formula of Arithmetic Progression.
aₙ = a + (n - 1)d
⇒ 100 = 12 + (n - 1)4
⇒ 100 - 12 = 4(n - 1)
⇒ 4(n - 1) = 88
⇒ (n - 1) = 88 ÷ 4
⇒ (n - 1) = 22
⇒ n = 22 + 1
⇒ n = 23
∴ 23 terms lie in between 10 and 100 which are divisible by 4.
