QUESTION : how many numbers lie between 10 and 300 which when divided by 4 leave a remainder 3

ANSWER :
The first number is 11 and the last number is 299.

The numbers are 11,15,19,23,27,…..,299. Each of these numbers leaves a remainder of 3 when divided by 4, and differ from each preceding number by 4. When dividing each number by 4 using a calculator, the decimal portion should give 0.75 (for example, 299 ÷ 4 = 74.75).

This series of numbers form an AP (Arithmetic Progression).

Use this formula to find n, the number of terms in the series:

Tn = a + (n - 1)×d ..…. where Tn= last term, a=1st term, d=common difference, n=number of terms

299 = 11+(n-1)×4

299–11=(n-1)×4

288÷4=(n-1)

72=n-1

n=73

Answer: 73 numbers
