The juxtamedullary nephrons have long Henle's loop extended into the inner medulla whereas the cortical nephrons have reduced Henle's loop

Vasa recta are well developed in juxtamedullary nephrons. Peritubular capillaries are highly developed in cortical nephrons.

The PCT and DCT are always situated in the cortex of the kidney and not the medulla.

The ascending limb of the loop of Henley continues as the DCT in the nephron.
