There were six passengers on Le Horla. They were - Lieutenant Mallet who would watch Le Horla during the night time as he is an officer on watch standing on starboard who watches the coarse of a ship. Then came M. Etierine Beer, M. Paul Bessand, Captain Jovis (the captain of the balloon) , M. Joliet and lastly the author. There was supposed to be another passenger too, M. Patrice Eyries had to get off from the basket as the balloon couldn't hold much weight.
