In USA, each state has minimum hourly salary that employer has to pay to the employee. That minimum hourly salary is different in each state.
So to answer number of jobs lost due to increase from $12 to $18 is not straightforward. Some state has raised it to $15, some state has raised it to $17. So it is not exactly from $12 to $18.
California will loose anywhere from upwards of 600,000 jobs. Seattle may loose anywhere from upwards of 450,000 jobs.
Overall in the US, estimation is that, anywhere between 6.6 million jobs could be lost due to raise in minimum wage.
