In human beings ABO blood groups are controlled by gene I which has three alleles IA, IB and I. The six possible genotypes are IAIA, IAIB, IAi, IBIB, IBi and ii. The phenotypes which occur by these genotypes are A(IAIA, IAi), B(IBIB, IBi), AB(IAIB) and O(ii).
