5. How many pieces of stone slabs each 26 cm long and 10 cm broad will be require to lay a path 260 m long and 15 m wide.

For each slab, length = 26 cm, breadth = 10 cm

Therefore, the area of a slab = length × breadth

                                          = 26 cm × 10 cm

                                          = 260 cm2

For the path, length = 26 cm, breadth = 15 m

Therefore, the area of the path = 260 × 15 × 10000 cm2

Therefore, required number of slabs = Area of path/Are of each slab

                                                     = 260 × 15 × 10000/260

                                                     = 150000

Therefore, 150000 slabs will be required.

Answer:

The number of  stone slabs required = 150000

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Length of the slab = 26cm, breadth of the slab = 10cm

Length of the path = 260m, breadth of the path = 15m

To find,

The number of stone slabs required to lay in the path

Recall the formula

Area of the rectangle =  length × breadth

1m²  = 10000 cm²

Solution

Area of the slab = Length of the slab × breadth of the slab

= 26 × 10 = 260cm²

Area of the path = Length of the path × breadth of the path

= 260 × 15 = 3900m² =  3900 ×  10000 =39000000cm²(∵1m²  = 10000 cm²)

No of slabs required = \frac{Area \ of \ the \ path }{Area \ of \ the \ slab} =  \frac{39000000}{260} = 150000

The number stone slabs required = 150000
