Answer: 180 planks

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume of planks = L×B×H

= 200×2.5×4 = 2000CM³

Volume of wooden block =  L×B×H

= 600×15×40 = 360000CM³

Number of planks = Volume of wooden block / Volume of each plank

= 360000/2000 = 180

Hope it helps :)

198 wooden planks can be cut from the wooden block.

Given : A plank is 2m long,3cm broad and 4cm thick. The wooden block is 6m long 18cm broad and 44cm thick.

To find : Number of wooden planks that can be cut from the wooden block.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate the number of wooden planks that can be cut from the wooden block)

First of all, we have to convert the all the dimensions in cm unit.

Wooden plank :

  • Length = 2m = 200 cm
  • Breadth = 3 cm (already in cm)
  • Thickness = 4cm (already in cm)

Wooden block :

  • Length = 6m = 600 cm
  • Breadth = 18 cm (already in cm)
  • Thickness = 44 cm (already in cm)

Volume of a wooden plank = length × breadth × thickness = 200 × 3 × 4 = 2400 cm³

Volume of the wooden block = 600 × 18 × 44 = 475200 cm³

Number of planks = Volume of wooden block ÷ Volume of a wooden plank = 475200 ÷ 2400 = 198

Hence, 198 wooden planks can be cut from the wooden block.
