Answer:

The statue had four precious jewels and he gave them to the people of his city.

Explanation:

The Happy Prince statue was perched atop a tall column, high above the town. It was plated all over with delicate leaves of pure gold. Its eyes were two brilliant sapphires, and the hilt of its sword was set with a sizable crimson ruby.

The urban poor led a wretched existence. A poor seamstress had nothing to offer her ill son. The Happy Prince then dispatched a ruby to her.

There once was a playwright who was without firewood for heat. then a sapphire was sent to him by the prince.

There was a match girl who needed stockings and shoes.  She was in tears. She received the second sapphire that the prince sent.

There were kids that were homeless and in need. The gold leaves the prince had on him were sent to those kids.

Hence, The statue had four precious jewels and he gave them to the people of his city.
