If a neutral atom has 1 proton, it must have 1 electron. If a neutral atom has 2 protons, it must have 2 electrons. If a neutral atom has 10 protons, it must have 10 electrons

Explanation:

actually in an atom there is no charge because there is equal amount of protons and neutrons. Friend I want to tell you that atoms react and from ecah other. These are known as ions. These contains charge.

Take an example na (sodium) having valency 1 and valance electron 1 and on other hand there is chlorine having valancy 1 and valance electron 7. Then sodium will lose one electron and become positivity charge whereas the chlorine will gain one atom and become negativity charge. The compound that will form will be nacl.
