Number of protons in an atom is called its Atomic number and is denoted by Z

The Nucleus of an atom contains two sub-atomic particles they are protons and neutrons. as these sub-atomic particles are present inside the nucleus they are also called nucleons.

Number of neutrons and protons that is nucleons present in atom is called its Mass number which is denoted by A

⇒ A = number of protons + number of neutrons

Here the atomic number of Lead (Pb) is Z = 82

and the mass number of Lead (Pb) is A = 206

but A = number of protons + number of neutrons

⇒ 82 + number of neutrons = 206

⇒ number of neutrons = 124

Hence the number protons - neutrons - nucleons = 82 - 124 - 206
