14 m = 1400 cm

25 upon 2 = 12.5 m = 1250 cm

AREA OF THE FLOOR = lb

= 1400 x 1250

= 1750000 cm^2

AREA OF THE TILES = lb

= 10 x 7

= 70 cm^2

no. of tiles = 1750000 divided by 70

= 25000 tiles

cost = 25000/100 x 5

= Rs. 1250

Anonymous: Per hundred tiles.. so, divide with 100 too
Anonymous: Rs. 125000/100 = Rs. 1250

Answer -

Rs. 1250

Step-by-step explanation -

Rectangular tiles 10 cm by 7 cm required to cover a floor 14 m by 25/2 m.

Here..

  • Length of tile = 10 cm
  • Breadth of tile = 7 cm

  • Length of floor = 14 m
  • Breadth of floor = 12.5 m (25/2)

Length and breadth of tiles are given in cm and length and breadth of floor is given in m.

Now, convert cm into m.

To convert cm into m divide by 100.

So, Breadth of tile = 0.07 m

According to question,

Area of tile = length × breadth

\implies\:\sf{0.1 \:\times\: 0.07}

\implies\:\sf{0.007 \:m^2}

Similarly,

Area of floor = length × breadth

\implies\:\sf{14 \:\times\: 12.5}

\implies\:\sf{175\: m^2}

So,

Number of tiles required = Area of floor/Area of tiles

Substitute the known values above

⇒ 175/0.007

⇒ 25000

∴ 25000 tiles are required.

Cost per hundred tiles = Rs. 5

⇒ (25000 × 5)/100

⇒ 250 × 5

⇒ Rs. 1250

•°• Rs. 1250 is required for the cost of Rs. 5 per hundred tiles.
