how many seconds will a train 60m in length , travelling at the rate of 42 km an hour, take in passing another train 84m long, proceeding in the same direction at the rate of 30km an hour?

since they are traveling in same direction so effective speed=42-30=12 km/hr = 12*5/18 m/sec=10/3 met/sec

distance to cover= its own length+ length of other train=60+84=144meter

So now time= distance/speed= 144/(10/3)=14.4*3 sec= 43.2 sec
