The number of selection lines in 8-line-to-1-line multiplexer:

Multiplexer:

  • Multiplexer is a circuit which is used to take several inputs which are in the binary numbers i.e., 0 or 1.
  • In general multiplexer is in the form of 2^{n}:1, here n is the number of selection lines.
  • Multiplexer is also written as MUX.

8-line-to-1-line multiplexer:

  • This multiplexer can takes 8 input signals and outputs one signal.
  • This output is generated based on the selection lines.
  • It can be written as 2^{3}:1.
  • By observation in 8:1 multiplexer n = 3.
  • In 8:1 MUX we need to use 3 selection lines to select the output.

Hence the number of selection lines in 8-line-to-1-line multiplexer is 3.
