Bulbourethral Glands. The paired bulbourethral glands (or Cowper's glands), each about the size of a small pea, lie on either side of the membranous urethra (Figure 4.8). Their ducts empty into the spongy urethra. These glands secrete mucus that lubricates the urethra during ejaculation.
