Number of π bonds present are 5

number of sigma(σ) bonds are 20

number of sigma bonds = 16

number of π - bonds = 5

see figure, here given structure of 3-formyl-5methylbenzoic acid. and also indicated sigma and pie bonds in structure.

as you know, in triple bond ; two pie and one sigma bonds are present

in double bond ; one sigma and one pie bonds are present

in single bond ; only a sigma bond is present.

by this explanation we get the above answer e.g., \sigma-bond = 16 and π - bond = 5
