Concept

A cube is a solid three-dimensional figure with six square faces or sides. The volume of a cube is the total space occupied by  the cube. The faces of a cube are all square, so the sides are the same length. Therefore, the length, width and height of the cube are the same.

If the length, width and height of the cube are equal to 'a',

Volume of cube = a × a × a

Given

We have been given that we have to make a large cube of dimension 9 unit.

Find

We are asked to determine the number of small units cubes required to make a large cube of dimension 9 unit.

Solution

It is given that small cubes constitute together to form the larger cube which means that

Volume of smaller cube = Volume of larger cube

Volume of larger cube =(a)^3

                                        =(9)^3=729

Then  volume of smaller cube = 729 cube units

which means that 729 small units of cubes are required to make a large cube of dimension 9 unit.

Therefore ,   729 small units are required to make a large cube of dimension 9 unit
