Given :

Length of rectangular piece = 6 cm

Breadth of rectangular piece = 42 cm

Height of rectangular piece = 21 cm

To Find :

how many spherical lead shot can be obtained

Solution:

Length of rectangular piece = 6 cm

Breadth of rectangular piece = 42 cm

Height of rectangular piece = 21 cm

Volume of piece =Length \times Breadth \times Height

Volume of piece = 6 \times 42 \times 21

Volume of piece = 5292

Diameter of sphere = 4.2 cm

Radius of sphere = \frac{4.2}{2}=2.1 cm

Volume of sphere = \frac{4}{3} \pi r^3 = \frac{4}{3} \times \frac{22}{7} \times 2.1^3 =38.808 cm^3

No. of spherical balls can be formed =\frac{5292}{38.808}=136.36

Hence 136 spherical lead shots each of diameter 4.2 CM can be obtained from a solid rectangular piece with dimensions 6 cm × 42 cm ×21cm
