Given : Side of square tile = 16cm

Length of rectangukar floor = 6.4 m = 6.4 × 100 = 640cm

Breadth = 5m = 5 × 100 = 500cm

To find : Total number of square tiles required

Solution :

First, we will find the area of the rectangular floor

Area of rectangular floor ☛ length × breadth

☛ A = 640cm × 500cm

\boxed{320000\:cm^2}

Now, we will find the area of square tile

Area of square tile ☛ side²

☛ (16cm)²

\boxed{256\:cm^2}

Now, we will divide Area of rectangular floor by Area of square tile

\dfrac{Area\:of\:rectangular\:floor}{Area\:of\:square\:tile}

\dfrac{320000}{256}

☛ 1250

∴ Number of tiles required = \boxed{\boxed{\textsf{1250}}}

Question :

How many square tiles of side 16 CM will be required to pave the floor of a rectangular room 6.4 m × 5 m ?

Answer:

\huge{\boxed{\boxed{\boxed{\green{1250}}}}}

Find the area of square

Area of a square = side × side .

➡ Area of square = 16 cm × 16 cm

➡ Area of square = 256 cm² .

Find the area of rectangle

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

Conversion into cm

Length = 6.4 m

➡ 6.4 m = 6.4 × 100 cm

➡ 640 cm

Breadth = 5 m

➡ 5 m = 5 × 100 cm

➡ 500 cm

Number of tiles

Number of required tiles = \mathsf{\frac{Area\:of\:rectangle}{Area\:of\:square}}

\implies \frac{500cm\times 640cm}{256cm^2}\\\\\implies \frac{500\times10}{4}\\\\\implies 125\times10\\\\\bf{\implies 1250}
