Answer:

Area of the floor= length× breadth

= 8×7= 56 m²

Are of the square tiles= side× side

= 2×2= 4m²

Number of square tiles required to cover the floor= 56/4

= 14 square tiles

GIVEN

Length of the floor = 8m

Breadth of the floor = 7m

Side of square tiles = 2m

TO FIND

Number of square tiles required to cover

the floor

FORMULA

Area of square = side × side

Area of rectangle = L × B

SOLUTION

Area of the floor = L × B

= ( 8 × 7 )m²

= 56 m²

Area of square tiles = side × side

= (2 × 2)m² = 4m²

NOW,

Number of tiles = Area of the floor

Area of square tiles

= (56 ÷ 4) = 14

So, number of square tiles is 14
